Old News

This is the News from time past - the stuff that was news at the time, but as time goes on has little value anymore. I've kept it here as a way to pay tribute to PWO's past.

NEW GAME SERVERS!

In an attempt to make the game much faster than in previous releases, over the past month I have been renting out four different servers to host our game on. And I am now happy to announce that the new servers are up and running!

Now, when you signup or Login to PWO, you will be asked which server you want to connect to. Just choose one from the dropdown, type in your login details, and click login, and you're set! The amount of players on each server is also listed. The advantage of this method is that you can now choose to play with more or less people, thus allowing reduced lag and more socialising!

Blue and Yellow Servers are open to the public, so you should use these to connect if you are new to the game. Gold and Silver Servers are also available to registered members as a way of saying thanks for helping us pay for these changes. There is also a Red Server, which should only be used if you are Beta Testing v0.812, in order to use the updated code.

If you find this all confusing, don't worry - most of the time you can just click "Login" and enjoy the game without bothering. But if you want to play with more/less people, now you have that option!

UPDATE: As of 2 June 2008, Silver is now a public server (you do not require membership to use it anymore). Gold is now the only Members-only Server.

MT. MOON FIX AND NPC UPGRADE

I have just released a new update to PWO, and with it, I have upgraded the NPCs. They are now able to ask you questions, and can also teleport you to new areas.

Also in the new update: I have now fixed Mt. Moon so you now shouldn't jump around anymore while in the cave, or at least not as frequently as you used to. That should make trying to get from one end to the other slightly more bearable ;)

You will need to redownload PWO to get the latest updates, so please can everybody make their way to the download page and get the new copy? You won't regret it, seriously.

VERSION 0.7 IS NOW OPEN TO PUBLIC!!!

We are pleased to announce that the latest version of Pokemon World Online, Version 0.7, is now finished and ready to download!

The new release has a brand new GUI and is much more stable, plus improvemnts such as a Night/Day system have been added.

Unfortunately, this release also marks the death of the Smart Updater. Too many people were having trouble using it, so I've completely got rid of it, and now you must reinstall PWO each time there is an update. I know how annoying it sounds, but trust me, it's less annoying then having to deal with a faulty updater!

To get PWO v0.7, please go to our Downloads page. Users with an older release should do this too as, from today onwards, the Smart Updater will cease functioning.

RELEASE 1 NOW AVAILABLE!!!

We now have a section where you can download the Smart Updater for Pokemon World Online, This tool will check for updates whenever you open the game.

The initial release has 60% of the wanted functionality but does in-fact include all the basics needed in any Online Pokemon Game.

Players can Battle, Train and Catch pokemon, they can Chat to friends and Re-Order Pokemon in their Own Pokemon PC in the Pokecentre. Pokemon Level up and Gain experience with every Battle - So what are you waiting for? Register and Start battling friends or Even Non Playing Characters from the Original Games.

FORUM IS ONLINE

Our Forum is working but we are yet to link the Login form (to the left) to it.

The Forum's have been brought online so users can post about Bug's in the game or get to know other users. Monthly Newsletters will be sent out from Pokemon World Online to let Users who arent in the Forums in on the latest.

NPC'S ARE WORKING

Just in we have enabled NPC's (Non Playing Characters) in the Game to give users Direction and also some Extra Battles. At present we will replicate the Pokemon Leaf Green and Fire Red NPC's and will continually re-align ourselves to Match these versions.

Once we have finished the Region for Leaf Green We will start on the Regions from the other games and Allow New Users to start in the other regions too. At present there are only 6 Different Sprites so anyone who's keen to help with Artwork or Map Building your welcome to email me your details.
