NEW FORUMS!

Yep, you read right! For the past month our Forums have been crashing a lot due to hosting restrictions, and after an especially long downtime and thousands of complaints, we decided it was time to start afresh. So, we've changed our forum software and started a brand new forum!

The new Forums have everything the old Forums had, but they are much more organised than the old ones, so some sections may have moved into easier-to-find locations, and you may see Forums you never even knew existed. Plus, we have Private Messaging! Yep, that heavily demanded feature that was strangely lacking from our Forum, is finally here in the new Forum. Hurrah!

Some bad news though: we weren't able to convert the database to the new Forum. So most of the posts from the old Forum aren't in the new one, and you'll have to register again at the new Forums to use them. Until all the important posts have been copied over, we will be keeping the old forum up at http://www.pokemonworldonline.net/forumold/, so check there if you can't find an answer you're looking for on the new forum or you just want to be nostalgic. Thanks for everyone's contributions over the last six months and we hope to see you at the new forums soon!

IMPORTANT WARNING!

It has come to our attention that a website with the address www.onlinepokemongame.info, has been advertising our game and distributing a download. The website begins with the disclaimer: "To download and play the Pokemon World Online game you must also download and install Zango. It's free and very easy to install and will give you access to the full game."

If you are directed to the site, DO NOT DOWNLOAD the game there at any cost! Zango is an Adware program that forces adverts to appear on your computer and can download other malicious software onto your computer. Using the game offered by onlinepokemongame.info will download Zango to your computer and possibly invade your privacy!

We would like to remind our users that only the site listed below is official. Downloads from these sites are 100% safe and adware-free, and using them means you always have the latest and greatest version of our game:

Onlinepokemongame.info is NOT an official site and we have nothing to do with it, so steer clear! If, however, you have downloaded a copy of our game from onlinepokemongame.info, you should delete it immediately and scan your computer for Adware. POKEMON WORLD ONLINE JAVA CLIENT - ALPHA 2 LAUNCHED!

Many of our players may know that for the past couple of weeks, Zammbi has been working on a Java Client for PWO, which will in future hopefully turn out to be a better and more stable way to play our game. Alpha 1, the first test of this client, was released to the public about two weeks ago and underwent 33 revisions, but was horribly lacking in features. Many of us have been awaiting a release of Alpha 2 to add in some of the missing features, and also bring new things such as sound support, better battling, and bug fixes.

I am pleased to say that the waiting is now over! Alpha 2 has been officially lanuched to the public, and can be downloaded here or by going to the forums. As well as having all the features and benefits of the previous client (supports Linux and Mac OS as well as Windows, can logout without closing the game, Fullscreen Support etc.), the new client now also contains Day/Night, a "Who's Online" list etc, and new features such as Music (!), better animations, proper error logging and so much more!

This is still an Alpha, so there will still be bugs and there's a lot of stuff that works in our main game that doesn't work in the Java Client (such as talking to NPCs). But it's a huge imporvement, and one I hope you all enjoy. Catchya later!

PokemonWorldOnline IRC NETWORK - DOWNTIME EXPLAINED

Many of you may have noticed for the last three weeks, our official IRC Network has been down and all connections to it failed. The maintainer of our IRC Network got in touch with JJ today to explain the downtime, so I am now able to fill you in on the details.

As it turns out, the maintainer's house was hit by a disaster many weeks ago, and his power supply was damaged requiring repair. What actually happened I am uncertain, but it seems he is not the only person with the problem. In any case, he has been completely unable to get power for the last few weeks, so the server cannot be turned on.

We are still waiting for someone to repair his power supply, but we have been promised that the PWO IRC Network will be back up the moment it is fixed. There may be a change in address, but other than that this should be the last problem we face. I'll keep you posted on the situation!

OFFICAL PokemonWorldOnline IRC NETWORK LAUNCHED!

That's right folks - thanks to the help of one really knowledgable PWO user, we have just launched our own official IRC Network!

Our new IRC Network is controlled by the Admins and Mods of PWO themselves. As a result it is easy to use, extremely reliable, and packed with useful features, plus you can guarantee to see the staff of PWO lurking around and willing to help you out if you need it!

Connecting to our IRC Network is simple. If you have an IRC Client, just open it up and type in "/server 71.234.88.76" (without the quotes). Or you can go to mibbit.com, and in the "Server" scrolldown, click "Other Server", then type 71.234.88.76 in the box that appears, type your username in the "Nickname" box, and click Connect. We hope to see you there!
